Sourced from the Mataro vineyard in the Koonunga sub region of the Barossa Valley. This is the last fruit to come into the winery every year due to the late ripening of the fruit. We work the Mataro fruit the most during fermentation with higher temperatures and longer pumper times along with multiple punch downs a day as extraction is key with this wine.
2018 was a near perfect year in the Barossa with high quality and high yields achieved across the region. This wine still puts the dark beast side of Mataro front and centre with lush fruits following and firm rounded tannins to end with.
