Rock of Wisdom Old Vine Grenache 2021

A burger and fries or pizza night are covered with a large pour of this in your glass. Good gear from Rock of Wisdom.

Petals, bountiful raspberries and handfuls of exotic spice get your attention early. Scratch the surface a little more to reveal a little boiled lollie character. Ripe, a warmth chases down that red fruit and it hangs. Time in the glass sees this move on and those raspberries shine some more. A big tick from me.

Drink to three years.

Rock of Wisdom Mataro 2021

Rock of Wisdom prides itself on minimal intervention small-batch wines. My first look at the range came via the very tidy Grenache and now this Mataro. With the Shiraz review to come, these are impressive wines.

Load up with pan juices, grilled steak and dense fruit. Damn it's smooth! A hint of cola, the purple and blue fruit shows opulence and thrives with some time in the glass. Earthy with leather tones, there is a welcoming personality here that you just want to be around. Soft spices caress a long and persistent finish. A very, very good Mataro here.

Rock of Wisdom Shiraz 2020

Meaty, this is dense with a gamey side. Roast beef or a steak on the coals will have you sorted with this Barossa Shiraz from Rock of Wisdom.

Dark fruits swim with ease and pan juices frame the edges. Blue fruits and mulberries rise up with some air under its wings. Pretty dried purple flowers and violets shine and some cedar is still prominent with tension through the mid-palate. Dark chocolate and dried herbs are a feature too. It will age nicely but drinks just as well now.
